Policy: 3.3 Salaries and Wages Policy

1.Purpose  

The purpose of this policy is to outline the principles and procedures governing wages, salaries, and salary adjustments at the Northern Association of Community Councils Inc. (NACC). This policy ensures that compensation remains fair, competitive, and reflective of both economic conditions and employee performance.

2. Authority

Under NACC By-laws, directors may adopt, amend, or repeal policies relating to the governance, management, operation, and affairs of the Corporation that are not inconsistent with the NACC’s By-laws, as the directors may deem appropriate from time to time.

3. Policy  

a) General

The NACC goal is to strive to ensure that employee compensation remains fair, competitive, and reflective of both economic conditions and employee performance. 

b) Salaries and Wages

  1. Wages and salaries will be adjusted as economic conditions and funding may permit. 
  2. Salary increases, with the exception of across the board ‘inflation correction’ increases, are dependent on good performance in accordance with the Performance Evaluations Policy.
  3. The Board shall negotiate the Executive Director’s compensation, including benefits.
  4. All employees will be paid bi-weekly.

c) Salary Increments Guidelines

Salary increments will be based on the evaluation of performance, years of service and based on the following guidelines: 

  1. It shall be the responsibility of the employees’ immediate supervisor to recommend a salary increment to the Executive Director after the performance appraisal process.   
  2. Salary increments based on performance will only be considered with a rating of good or higher.  
  3. Salary increments based on years of service will only be considered with a rating of satisfactory or higher.
  4. The Executive Director shall make all final decisions regarding salary increments.

4. Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed every two (2) years by the Executive Committee or more frequently if required to ensure compliance with any changes in employment standards to ensure its continued relevance and alignment with the NACC’s operations. Changes to the policy will be documented and communicated to the Board for approval.

5. Board Acceptance

This policy will be approved by the Board of Directors. The President / Chair of the Board will sign and date the policy to indicate its approval and adoption.
