The NACC is working to resolve these resolutions, which were submitted by communities in our Western region.

Resolution # 7-25-26

Whereas: the Western Region requests that the Northern Association of Community Councils (NACC) lobby Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure regarding urgent road maintenance, repairs, and restorations within the Western Region.

Be it resolved: that the Western Region requests the replacement of culverts along Highway 328 due to increased flooding of adjacent lands;

Be it further resolved: that the Western Region requests road restoration from the junction of PR #276 on PR #269 to Highway 20 (Fork River), which directly impacts the communities of Waterhen, Mallard, Rock Ridge, Meadow Portage, Spence Lake, Crane River, Salt Point, and Skownan First Nation;

Be it further resolved: that the Western Region requests the restoration and repair of Highway 77, which serves the communities of Baden, Barrows, Red Deer Lake, and Westgate;

Be it further resolved: that the Western Region requests that PR #481 be paved from the junction of PR #276 through the community OF Crane River;

Be it further resolved: that the Western Region requests that the junction of PR #276 and PR #269 be regularly sanded during the winter months to ensure safe travel conditions.

Whereas: MNR has cut the funding to the Northern Healthy Food Initiative (NHFI) Program, which has reduced the budget by one-third;

Be it resolved: that the Western Region requests that the Northern Association of Community Councils (NACC) lobby the Manitoba Government and MNR to restore full funding to the NHFI Program to ensure the continued support of food security, community gardens, and healthy living initiatives for all 18 NACC Community involved in the program.

Whereas: Cellular Service is vital to our communities. Without service causes safety concerns for travel living in the north.

Be it resolved: that the Western Region lobbies NACC to advocate on their behalf to obtain cell service for our communities.

Whereas: the communities in the Western Region are fighting fires and wildfires with outdated equipment and limited resources.

Be it resolved: that the Communities of the Western Region requests NACC to lobby MNR and the Manitoba Government for additional funds to support the acquisition of new firefighting apparatuses, updated protective gear, training programs and improvements to existing facilities
