The NACC is working to resolve these resolutions, which were submitted by communities in our Eastern region.

Whereas: the Eastern Region of NACC has accepted a petition from Manigotagan Council, signed by residents of the community and surrounding area, requesting mobile service.

And whereas: other communities in the Eastern Region are dealing with similar connectivity issues.

Be it resolved: that the Eastern Region supports the petition and agrees to have the NACC Board lobby on behalf of the Eastern Region communities.

Whereas: the Eastern Region wages for staff that work the community councils are lower than industry standards.

And whereas: community councils lose staff or cannot retain staff due to low wages, no benefits and lack of proper training.

And whereas: Municipal Development Consultants are trained adequately on Sage 50 or do not have time to spend with CAO’s to accomplish tasks in the program.

Be it resolved: that the Eastern Region and NACC lobby the department to have wage parity and benefit packages for all the community employees along with better training for all employees.

Whereas: Per Diems paid to council when travelling outside the Community for meetings are topped at $120.00 per day according to the Northern Affairs Act.

Be it resolved: that NACC Lobby to have the Council Per Diems reviewed in the The Northern Affairs Act to cover average daily wage or higher while travelling out of the community-on-community business.
